Welcome to the website for the
Slovenian Australian Institute.
This site was launched in April 2002
in Sydney Australia and very much
reflects the aims and objectives
of the Institute. It is a visual record
for all its activities, projects
and associations and is also
a bilingual site.

Visit 'About Us' to find out more
about why the Institute exists, who
we are and by visiting 'Upcoming Events and 'Events Archive', see what
the Institute has already achieved
in both Australia and Slovenia.

Feedback on this site is welcome.
Send an email to:
info@sloaus-inst.com
or if there are interesting projects,
exhibitions, points of interest that
may be included or linked to
this site.

Since 1973, The Biennale of Sydney has showcased new international artwork shown along side cutting edge Australian art at major art venues throughout Sydney NSW.

The themes for the Biennale of Sydney 2002 are imagination and invention. (The World May Be) Fantastic delves into the way artists explore narratives, fictions, models and fabrications to challenge and questions our interpretations of the world.

About Marina Grzinic...

Marina GRZINIC received her Ph.D in Philosophy on the topic of Philosophical Aspects of Virtual Reality and Changed Time and Space Paradigms in the 1990's at the University of Ljubljana. She works as a Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy at The Scientific and Research Center of the Slovenian Academy of Science and Art.

AUSTRALIAN COMPANY TO OPEN IN SLOVENIA, 19 JULY 2002

If you have experience in retailing and also speak Slovenian, Harvey Norman may have the ideal - if slightly unusual - opening for you. The Aussie retailer needs salespeople on the floor by the time its first store in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, opens on July 19. While most of the 100 people employed in the store will be hired locally, the retailer wants people who have developed sales techniques in Australia. 'We would like to use the selling techniques people use in Australia… and people who have an understanding of the Harvey Norman system,' says the group's Finance Director, John Skippen.

He says it is vital that it has Slovene speakers with Aussie know-how in sales, warehouse management and administration to impart their knowledge to the local workforce.

The Ljubljana store will have a similar product range to Harvey Norman stores across Australia. Training will be given before departure for Slovenia.
Applications should be forwarded to Tina Clarisse, Locked Bag 2, Silverwater DC, NSW, 1811 or jobs@harveynorman.com.au
