Nomination criteria for NSW Slovenian Tertiary, Secondary
and Primary Student of the Year 2003


Tertiary Student -Successful academic record for 2003 across or most subjects
-Evidence of representation and involvement at Institution eg memberships of organizing committees, interest groups, sporting teams
-Representation outside of Institution e.g. cultural and sporting
-Community service and/or involvement

Secondary Student -Academic record (most current results) with sound, consistent results across all subjects (end of year report 2003 accepted)
-School representation and/or participation e.g. extra duties, prefect or captain, sporting, voluntary work for charities or at school, drama, music or any other extra-curricular activities
-Community Service and/or involvement e.g. sporting, volunteer work, charity work; through church or other, cultural.
Primary Student -Sound performance at school based on reports (most current); high level of consistency.
-Effort at school based on report comments; high level of consistency
-School representation and/or extra-curricular activities at school or in the community e.g. class captains, volunteering/helping, music, drama, sport


Nomination Criteria for
NSW Slovenian Outstanding Senior Citizen of 2003


Evidence of the following required:
High level of community involvement in the Slovenian and/or wider Australian Communities
Record of success with this involvement
Ý Brief indication (ONLY) of whether this involvement has been paid or unpaid and type and/ or level of compensation received. Details do not need to be highly specific.
Indication of duration of involvement with various events, projects, drives or committees
This category is open to males and females who were at least 60 years of age by the 31/12/2002.As this may be the category receiving the highest number of eligible entrants the judging panel suggests that entrants and/or nominators provide a comprehensive as possible entry.

Entrepreneur of the Year.
A winner and a highly commended entrant will be chosen. For each Award category

ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR CATEGORY CRITERIA
Please provide a typed entry submission of not more than 5 A4 pages that addresses all of the following matters in sections A-D. The judging Panel will use this information for selection purposes.
A. BUSINESS PROFILE
Overview of your business: provide information on: the type of business you are operating and where located; products and/ or services the business provides; markets (eg export) and customers; its history (eg when started, incorporated); staff numbers, workforce profile, development and training; use of IT; quality processes; commitment to Occupational Health & Safety policies and practices.
Business growth and development: demonstrate the growth and development of the business through, among other things: gross turnover, workforce, infrastructure and market position. Identify key factors that have let to successful business growth; and any hurdles that had to be overcome.
Strategic directions; outline our strategic plan for business growth over the next three years

B. WHAT MAKES YOUR BUSINESS EXCELLENT AND GIVES YOU A SUSTAINABLE COMPETITIVE
ADVANTAGE IN THE MARKET PLACE


Market potential: identify market potential in your targeted markets
(Regional, state, national, international and/or generic market segment).
Sustainable competitive advantage: outline you sustainable competitive advantage in your targeted markets.
Innovation: identify how the product, service, system or technology is innovative (eg showing a significant step forward); and the level of your business commitment to continuous improvement.

C. SPECIFIC CRITERIA FOR ENTREPRENEUR AWARDS

AGE: business wishing to enter the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards must be individuals that are 21 and over at the close of entries on the 20th May 2004 who serve as majority owner and operate or bear principal responsibility for operating a business with a two year track record.
Business success: provide evidence of your commercial success.
Demonstrated ability: show how you have converted an idea into a marketable product or service.
Innovation: explain how you have developed and/or used innovative or creative business methods.
Entrepreneurship: demonstrate your entrepreneurial potential, which is necessary for long-term business success and economic growth.
Personal attributes: discuss the qualities, which contribute to your entrepreneurship and achievements.

THE SLOVENIAN AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE
AWARD FOR:
'AUSTRALIAN SLOVENIAN ACHIVEMENTS
IN SLOVENIA, 2003’

The Slovenian Australian Institute would like to recognize the achievements of an Australian Slovenian who has made inroads in Slovenia in 2003 in any of the areas of culture, business, tourism sport or education.
Please respond to all the following criteria in writing. This information will be used by the judges to shortlist and select the winner for this category.
Your response in total should not be more than 3 A4 typed pages.
SPECIFIC CRITERIAPROJECT/ENDEAVOUR SUCCESS
Describe your aims and objectives and outline how you have successfully meet these objectives. Indicate what type of recognition you have received in Slovenia regarding your project. This can be media publicity such as newspaper articles, TV. coverage or internet publication.
INNOVATION
Describe what new ideas and initiatives you have brought to your project.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Show how your personal attributes have helped you to achieve your goals and aspirations.


Include any additional information not covered above that would best describe your Endeavor and its success.Include photographs with your application if required.

Nomination Criteria for Outstanding NSW Slovenian Volunteer of 2003

Open age category.
Category is open to those who undertake community work on a paid or an unpaid basis.
Evidence of work within the Slovenian community, which is of high standard, consistent,
and in some way promotes the Slovenian Community.
The evidence of this work must be provided in the form of a list of dates and various events,
projects drives or committees the nominee has been involved in.
The more information that is provided regarding these projects or events, the better the judges
will be placed in making an informed decision.

A personal profile of the nominee, with information such as their other interests, other work outside the Slovenian community, family responsibilities etc would be an advantage.
